Richard, No I've not tried that but make sure you are also on a new enough
tape driver version for the new lib & drive FW. So Atape if you are on
AIX. Upgrading that will entail removal and addition of the tape
devices, so is best done with TSM down or at least not using drives.

[ADSM-L] 3584 library firmware upgrade NDU?

Caterpillar: Confidential Green Retain Until: 18/09/2010

We are getting ready to upgrade the lib/drive firmware
in our 3584 with 3592 tape drives. Just to do it, I
downloaded the latest version of the 3584 manuals since
my set were vvvvery old. I took a glance at the firmware
upg procedure and read the following:

"The TS3500 Tape Library offers a nondisruptive library firmware
update, that is the ability to update library firmware withouth
scheduling
downtime and without interrupting job flow or reducing productivity.
An IBM Service Representative can perform the update by using the
CETool software applicante, or you can perform the update from the Web."

Has anyone upgrade their 3584 lib firmware without taking
all the drives offline in TSM?

Thanks

Rick
