[ADSM-L] SV: Assign scratch volumes to a device class
2010-05-10 00:19:23
Hi Paul,
Please see my reply to Mehdi Salehi.
http://www.backupcentral.com/phpBB2/two-way-mirrors-of-external-mailing-lists-3/ibm-tsm-13/lto4-copy-pool-with-ts3500-and-lto5-drives-105180/
But you can either specify a media type to a dedicated storage group or you can
define a dedicated volume to a storage by running "define volume <STGPOOL>
<VOLUME_NAME>"
Hope this helps.

Ämne: Assign scratch volumes to a device class
Is it possible to assign scratch volumes to a specific device class? We have
TSM 5.5 with an IBM TS3200 tape library. It has a mixture of LTO4 and LTO3
tapes in it.
Various processes keep using LTO4 scratch tapes when I direct them to use LTO3
tapes, and vice a versa.
For example running the command "backup db type=full devclass=lto3class
scratch=yes" will write to an LTO4 scratch tape if one is available. Similarly
reclaimation processes on LTO4 tapes will grab an LTO3 scratch tape if one is
available.
Thanks & Regards
Paul
