Hi Del,
Isn't TDP 6.x.x restoring the entire Database first, then it's automatic 
pulling out the selected mailbox?
Or is it only restoring the mailbox from that dataset?

A version 5.5 TSM Server will work fine
with Data Protection for Exchange 6.1.1.
