Hello,

We want to migrate our tsm 5.3.6 to new hardware with 5.5.3 installed.
I have SCSI tape library 3573 on old server (5.3.6)which we use as copy pool
only. We keep our primary pool on disks.
I installed everything on new server and I physically moved tape library to new
server. When I started restore I received error. I ran trace and I got:

15:05:51.313 [40][psntpop.c][1668][]:PvrPsTape GET_TAPE_DRIVE_INFORMATION,
maxblocksize 65536
15:05:51.313 [40][pvrntp.c][1163][]:Opening NTP Volume FXK307L4 blocksize=0,
Drive DRIVE2 (mt4.0.0.4) maxblocksize=65536.
15:05:51.313 [40][output.c][6385][]:ANR8939E The adapter for tape drive DRIVE2
(mt4.0.0.4) cannot handle the block size needed to use the volume

So new server is using 64K blocksize.

I also ran trace on exiting, old, production server with tape library
connected. I just ran quick copy diskpool to copy pool.
Trace:
15:52:24.734 [26][psntpop.c][1644]: PvrPsTape GET_TAPE_DRIVE_INFORMATION,
maxblocksize 262144
15:52:24.734 [26][pvrntp.c][1146]: Opening NTP Volume FXK313L4 blocksize=0,
Drive MT4.0.0.2 (mt4.0.0.2) maxblocksize=262144.
15:52:24.734 [26][pvrntp.c][1194]: Using the NoCopy method (True) with RS = 48
and BS = 262144, PVR's blockSize = 262144

Old server is using 256K blocksize to write to tape.

I have case open with IBM TSM tech support. They said it is hardware (SCSI
Adapter). I have IBM Adaptec 29320ALP (which is PCI-X card) on old server and
same card 29320LPE (which is PCI-e express) on new server. I didn't call ibm
hardware support because they are just dealing with replacing parts. I opened
case with adaptec and ask them how to change blocksize; they said it should
work if you didn't change registry settings.

I don't understand why there is no clear answer how to change blocksize on scsi
adapters.

Any help appreciated.

Regards,
