Hi TSM'ers,
we have a policy that we have to be notified by a client beforehand if
there's more than 500 GB to backup. One of our clients uses version
5.4.2.7 of the tsm client on Macintosh (server: 5.5.1.0 on AIX). Is
there any possibility for him to limit a backup to 500 GB or at
least to
estimate how much data is about to be transferred?
estimate: it'll be hard to backup more than 500 GB of data of a 500 GB
disk.....
of course, on a normal workstation, people have to work really hard to
generate over a few MB of text documents. So there must be a reason
for him to worry...
On macos, if you are really worried, you could run a "find -
ctime" (lookup the manpage) to find the changed files and then
calculate...
BTW, IMNSHO, your TSM environment might be to much backup-centric and
to little recovery-centric if you need a policy for clients to notify
you if they accidentally backup a bit more than average once in a while.
