What do you think the problem is?

Look up reason codes in the TSM API manual.
This is probably a due to trying to use a symbolic link with the TSM
client error log and/or lack of write permission to it.  Your client
ERRORLOGName option should specify a writable file.  Be sure to do
'dsmc q opt' whenever changing client options.
