Del or an experienced Oracle customer may have more insight, but it
may be the case that the database has grown over time and the
combination of database access realities and little changed data
within it are resulting in progressively longer times for the
processing to find changed data so as to finally respond to the TSM
server. You can gauge this through your historical logs. If further
increasing the timeout eliminates the problem again, then this would
seem to be the issue. You may want to confer with the Oracle
administrators: long runtimes may suggest that there may be
performance issues which could be addressed in the Oracle environment
to alleviate the backup situation, as well as improve performance for
Oracle users.
