The backup actually started and had already had dumped 11 backupsets
It was on the 12th one when it failed

Forgive me for asking the overly obvious, but I must:
1. is the IP address for the TSM Server correct in your dsm.opt, and can
you ping the TSM server? (if you are using dns change it to the ip
address)
2. Can you run tdpoconf showenv successfully?
I think the key is on the client side. The Client has yet to contact
the server, hence the timeout on the server side.
The ANS1017E below is the important one, I think, or at least the place
to start.
