In the Windows application log, is there any evidence of the acceptor
daemon crashing, and possibly orphaning the files? What version of TSM
is the client?

Matthew -

See Client Acceptor Daemon
in http://people.bu.edu/rbs/ADSM.QuickFacts

where I summarize the nature of those files. I'm surprised to see
them in that directory, and lingering.

I don't see how a few tiny files can cause a computer system to be
"falling over". The customer has to do some actual looksee into the
failure condition.
