In our shop we made a custom bootable cd with linux and the tsm clienton it. We compiled the kernel on this cd with as many drivers aspossible to support a lot of hardware. When we do a bmr of a linuxsystem we boot from this cd, create the needed partitions andfilesystems and mount them on a temp. mountpoint. Then we restore thesefilesystems from TSM. Then you can chroot into the new environment toinstall the bootloader and change any mount options and so on. (if yougo from softwareraid to scsi for example). You can also recreate yourinitrd file here to include any modules you need for boot.I also heard from people who use a "standard" linux boot cd (likeknoppix) and then nfs mount a filesystem with the TSM clients binariesin it.

We have used this method many times and it has been proven to work well,we also use it to migrate linux boxes to vmware.
