Sure.

Big TCP windows.  Heavy penalty for dropped packets.

The encryption questions are relevant, but keep in mind: they're
relevant any time your data stream leaves network "you" (for some
organizational value of 'you') control.

CRC checking is not really relevant here.  TCP is TCP.
