I believe there is a mistake here.

I believe that the cache is only used to cache the ccw's for blocks. The reason
for the 2gig limit was given a long time ago on this list by a TSM dev, they
use a windows api to map the file in virtual memory for i/o. The api they use
has the 2 gig limit.

We use the sub file feature for windows servers located in remote offices, and
it really does help. but it would be even better if it could handle file that
are greater than 2gig.

I suspect if they come up with a general dedup feature, that this would replace
the sub-file feature. And one would hope that it will do files of any size.

It will be interesting to see what it looks like.

Yes, that is what we are trying to do. Sam, on the other hand....

I didn't realize the cache directory was limited in size and that it held
complete copies of files. Checking this, it seems you may be correct about
full copies of files being made in the cache directory. The size of the
cache directory is only 1GB according to the Users Guide, and that is what
the EditPreferences GUI restricts you to as well.... I don't understand
how subfile backup can work for files up to 2GB in size, if the
subfilecachesize is restricted to 1024 MB.

Bummer. Thanks Wanda.
