Hi,

BR*tools are able to do what is named "split backup".

You have server A with SAP database.
You have a second server, server B, connected on a set of disks.
SAP database is copied to the set of disks of server B, with flashcopy,
business copy and so on, depending of your hardware.
Then the database is backed up on server B with BR*Tools, interfaced with TSM
by TDP for MySAP.
The copy, the split (at hardware level), the mounting of filesystems on server
B are managed with scripts.
BR*Tools are configured to use those scripts before executing the back up of
copied datas.
The back-up can include shutdown of primary database, before splitting disks,
to insure consistencies of data's then start/mount.
BR*Tools are able to use RMAN too, if you run SAP/Oracle.
