I read the appropriate Redbooks and manuals (or so I believe), and I
can't seem to figure out if what I want to do is possible. The product
datasheets say that Tivoli Data Protection for Databases supports Oracle
RAC, but if you download the documentation for TDPDB, neither "RAC" nor
"cluster" appears in the documentation. Searches on the IBM website
have turned up case studies and datasheets, but no redbooks that talk
about configuring TDPDB/TDPO for RAC. I also searched the archives of
this list and couldn't find anyone doing what I want to do, so here I
am.

Has anyone used TDPO on a multi-hosted Oracle RAC configuration? Is it
possible to tell RMAN to automatically generate streams from each of the
nodes in the RAC cluster, and then send those streams directly to tape
using TSM LAN-free clients? I know that RMAN supports this kind of
functionality, but does TSM support it?

Here's a little ASCII art to show you what I'm talking about:

+-------------------------------------------------------------+
| RAC CLUSTER |
| +----------+ +----------+ +----------+ +----------+ |
| | "Main" | | | | | | | |
| | RAC Node | | RAC Node | | RAC Node | | RAC Node | |
| | & | | & | | & | | & | |
| | LAN-Free | | LAN-Free | | LAN-Free | | LAN-Free | |
| | Client | | Client | | Client | | Client | |
| +-----+----+ +-----+----+ +-----+----+ +-----+----+ |
|-------|--------------|--------------|--------------|--------|
        | | | |
     +----+ +----+ +----+ +----+
     |Tape| |Tape| |Tape| |Tape|
     +----+ +----+ +----+ +----+

1. TDPO talks to RMAN on the "main" node
2. RMAN on main node talks to RMAN on all other nodes
3. Each node is told which part of the database to backup
4. Each node generates a stream of Oracle data
5. Each stream of Oracle data is sent to that node's drive

Is this possible in TSM? Has anyone done it?
