Ok, starting a tsm server can take a long time, depending on the amount
of data in the recoverylog and the size of it.

now, you are in deep shit. Did you create new logvolumes or overwrite
the old volumes?

I'd say there is only one way to go. dsmserv format and then indeed
dsmserv restoredb. If your logfiles are corrupted, you are screwed. You
could ask your TSM support partner, but I've never heard of a proper
recovery if the logvolumes have been lost without restoring the db from
backup.
