Nope, they'll be scratch immediately unless you have reusedelay set to
something other than 0 on that storage pool.

Thanks.. lol
Will this automatically return the volume into scratch or do I still
have to do another step?

If you're really really sure you don't need the data, you can issue
"delete volume vol_name discarddata=yes"
But, make your boss sign a guarantee that you won't lose your job if
someone decides later that they need the data.

It was a backup that we do not want, we already have a copy of the same
files. It is taking up too much real estate.

Either let the data expire through defined retention policies, or move
the data off of them using move data commands. Deleting them is not a
good idea as you are destroying your backup data if you do.

Are you running reclamation on your storage pools? Volumes with a low
percentage utilized and high percentage reclaimable should be reclaimed
and returned to scratch automatically.

Subject: [ADSM-L] scratch tapes

Hello,
Currently there are a number of volumes that contains data but I
would like to flush them and turn those volumes into "scratch" .

What would be the correct way to do that?

Thanks.
