Hi to all

After a crash of a EMC storage disk for an Exchange Client windows2003 with a
TDP for Microsoft Exchange version 5.3.3.1 due to an electric problem,

after resolving the connection to the Emc disk when trying to load the Exchange
database we got a corrupt error.

The first storage group (5 databases) was on the damage disk, the second
storage group (4 databases) was on other disk .

We decided to restore the database for a Full + 4 incrementals backup , we
first check before the restore that:

 1. The option for each databases "Overwrite the database after a restore" is
chosen

 2. The run recovery and Replay Restored Logs ONLY are chosen

 3. The Mount databases after Restore is not chosen

 4. The VSS option is not chosen

The restore of the first storage group include the run recovery (full + inc)
worked fine but after restoring the second group (full + inc) in the run
recovery

step we got the following error:

03/28/2007 15:46:04 Restore of Second Storage Group failed.

03/28/2007 15:46:04 ACN5798E MS Exchange API HRESERESTORECOMPLETE() failed with
HRESULT: 0xc7ff1005 -Error returned from a callback function call (0xFFFFFB40).

We tried several times with the same error and after a while we got another
error:

03/28/2007 18:20:38 Restore of Second Storage Group failed.

03/28/2007 18:20:38 ACN5798E MS Exchange API HRESERESTOREREOPEN() failed with
HRESULT: 0xc7ff0bc3 -Restore environment information corrupted.

I checked the following error but all the suggestions I found was already made,
by the way all databases in the first storage group we succeed to mount .

I succeed to load Exchange database by creating a recovery storage group and
restoring each database of the second storage group on it and copying after

to their original location.

Can anybody explain to me why the direct restore of the second group didn't
succeed and the first storage group succeed ??????

T.I.A Regards

Robert Ouzen
