Re: LTO Auto Cleaning

My first 3584 library was set up for auto-clean with LTO Gen 1 tape
drives -- and when it went off-lease, the only counts on the cleaning
tapes were from manually mounting them to check out tape drives.
I've got two years on the second library, 10 LTO Gen 2 drives, running
about 4 TB of data per night through the system. I haven't used a
cleaning tape cycle yet, nor have I seen any SCSI errors that indicate a
drive needs cleaning. And I'm still running a lot of the original Gen 1
tapes.
I think the engineers outdid themselves on designing self-cleaning
systems.

Subject: LTO Auto Cleaning
I've been looking for messages from the LTO2 drives stating they need
cleaning. I know that the library auto cleaning is turned off and by
looking
at it through the web interface that is true. I can also see that there
is a
C on one of the drives looking through the same web interface. TSM is
configured to clean the drive as needed but I don't see the drive
sending
any message to the TSM server stating such. I can run "clean drive" just
fine from the command line and thus the C through the 3584 web interface
clears the "C".
I've tried looking for the ANR8914I message but don't see one. Is there
something I've missed?
Thanks,
