Are they the same make of tape? I had the same issue when our
procurement dept purchased Maxell tapes instead of TDK.

I have a question.

I have a 3584 library connected to an AIX 5.1 server with 8 IBM LTO GEN
1 tape drives. It has been a year since I have ordered new scratch tapes
and about as long since I have upgraded my firmware on my tape drives. I
am experiencing an issue where I cannot write to the new tapes. I cannot
label them or if I am lucky enough to label them when data is attempted
to be written to them I receive a hardware error in the TSM AC log and
the tape is moved to read-only.

My current plan of attack is to upgrade the firmware on the drives and
my atape driver. I was just wondering of anyone else experienced this
issue and if this should resolve my problem.

Thanks,

Sorry for the vagueness if more info is needed please let me know.
