I have 5550 and it works fine for me. Just to be sure I reset the
address and then reentered it. I then sent a test trap and got it on my
management console right away.
Perhaps Rick is right; you might have a partial load of the FW.

The current library code is 5770. I would install this code level and
then call IBM if the problem is still present. I have seen strange
things like this when a firmware load doesn't complete. Even though
you said this is a new unit, the factory firmware load might have
been incomplete.
