Hi list,
I had a problem this morning, where I lost one of the LTO1 drives of our
3584 library. I then opened a call by IBM, and like always, their first
advice was to upgrade the Atape driver to latest version (9.6.0.0) and
to delete/redefine the drive at AIX (5.3.0) level. I followed their
recommendations, to no success, as it was in fact due to some faulty
Fiber connection, what I discovered later ...
Off course, to perform the Atape driver upgrade, I had to stop TSM
server, thus avoiding any eventual tape access ... My problem appeared
when I tried to restart the server, under the form of this message in
activity log :
11/08/05 12:26:15 ANR8963E Unable to find path to match the serial
number
defined for drive LTO1DR6 in library LTOLIB1 .

LTOLIB1;
will retry in 2 minute(s).
I had to remove the path and drive definitions for the faulty drive, to
finally get the whole library initialized ! This seems very strange to
me, as, AFAIR, I've never seen such a behavior ...
We upgraded recently to TSM 5.3.1.4 : is it a new "function" which was
introduced at this level ?
Anyway, I find it pretty strange that a whole library could not be
initialized just because of one missing drive...
Anybody having an explanation ?
TIA.
Cheers.
Arnaud
