The reasons I have been given are:

1) The use of the incremental logs add complexity to the job for the person
doing the restore, and sometimes a step is forgotten.

2) The full backups do a checksum on all the data base pages that are backed up
via the online api. An incremental backup does not read any of the data base
pages, so it will not find any problem pages, if they exist.

3) Replaying the logs, can add time to the restore. This depends on the speed
of your hardware and the quantity of the logs.

Subject: [ADSM-L] Exchange backup question

We just implemented the TDP for exchange. Our exchange admin just got back from
Microsoft exchange class and is being told to only perform full backups of
Exchange. She has been warned that incremental are not reliable with exchange
will just cause us problems. I can't see why...
Worked ok for us during testing.

Does anyone know of any problems with the full/incremental strategy?
Have you ever had problems recovering exchange using the TDP with
full/incremental

Thanks,
Wayne
