However if I get this correct
You say to install the product onto the client not the TSM server correct?
Then configure it through smit as unusual

You want IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for System Backup and Recovery,
GC32-9076-02.  Sysback is installed on the system that you want to run it
on and then you tie into the TSM api to store the backup to TSM.  The book
above explains the how to.
