That's a funny aspect... No money in it, due to the fact that's freeware? And
here I thought the money was in selling the licenses for the agents... or do
you know something we don't know?

If there is enough MySQL running out there, there should be a market for a TDP
agent to back it up - in fact people using MySQL will initially have saved
money on the database - so they might have some money left over for an backup
client... and with the numbers of MySQL databases runnin "out there" there must
be a market...

So I don't think the money issue is the problem here - but maybe the result of
an strategic idea... and with IBM as a spokesman for Open Source software it's
a funny result.

Flemming

No one has experience with the TDP for MySQL client: there is no such
thing.
MySQL is one of those freebee, open software applications where
there's no
money in it for IBM to devote resources to a TDP client.

What IBM suggests for MySQL backups can be found at:
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/redp3980.html

Also, search the List archives for "MySQL" and "My SQL" for past
discussions.
