for is essentially DFSMS for Open Systems and this is precisely what is
coming soon to a data center near you!  Using the SAN File System and
other components in the suite, you can define data rules and policies to
manage your data across the enterprise. And, yes, you can move inactive
data from Tier 1 high performance storage to less expensive, less
performance (aka SATA) storage and then eventually to tape or deletion.
All based on your defined rules and policies.
