Hello everyone,

I have 2 TSM servers using an STK SL8500 library with IBM LTO2 tape drives.
We also have Gresham EDT within the mix.  I have noticed that many of my
tapes are being marked as unavailable as you can see below.  Does anyone
have any suggestions as to what may be causing the tapes to be marked as
unavailable?  Thanks in advance!

Every day many volumes are being marked as unavailable as you can see in
the example below.  When I check to see if the volume is in the drive, it
isn't.  It has been returned to a slot in the library.  It seems as if TSM
gets done with the tape and it hits the 1 minute retention period.  It goes
to verify the label and that's when it takes an I/O error, which then
causes TSM to mark it as unavailable.  It looks like EDT issues a query
against the tape, but it doesn't update the status, so I'm getting many
tapes being marked unavailable due to this issue.
