James,

With Exchange 2003 you have a few ways to solve this problem:

1 - Use the Recovery Storage Group feature of Exchange 2003.
Microsoft added this feature specifically for this purpose.
Here is how to get some documentation from Microsoft that explains it.
Go to www.microsoft.com and search for:
       "Recovery Storage Groups"
    or look here:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/2003/library/ue2k3rsg.mspx

2 - Use the features within Microsoft Exchange Server, i.e.
"Deleted Item Restore", "Deleted Mailbox Restore".

3 - Use the whitepaper that I wrote called "BRICKBACK.DOC".
It is included with Data Protection for Exchange product.
You can also get the documentation on the IBM Web site.
Go to www.ibm.com and search for:
       "BRICKBACK.DOC"

Thanks,

Del
