Domino TDP backups to LTO2
2004-10-13 09:33:54
I have been experimenting with doing Domino backups directly to LTO tape.
We are trying to do this since in the future, our Domino systems will
expand to address 40,000+ ID's and 3-6TB of storage that will need to be
backed up (no clue how much on a daily basis but weekly will be big due to
the "reorgs").
My first experiment seems to indicate that this is a bad idea due to the
TDP process open/closing the tape for every Domino "mail box" it backs
up........
Or am I interpreting these log entries, wrong:
10/12/2004 10:24:43 PM ANR8337I LTO volume 090024 mounted in drive
LTO-DRIVE2 (/dev/rmt0).
10/12/2004 10:24:44 PM ANR0511I Session 30861 opened output volume 090024.

<snipped a lot more of these !>
Is this a hopeless cause ?
Are there any future plans to greatly improved the Domino TDP to take
advantage of things like large TCPWINDOWSIZE and such to improve data
transfer ?
