If you're running EFC to manage your zones, you have to add the devices
to the zone, add the zone to the zoneset, and activate the zoneset. If
you're not running EFC you can verify the zone and members from the
command line of the switch. Also, are your switch settings correct for
each port? Speed, type of port? Try disconnecting the fibre from the
back of the drives and reconnecting it as well - fixed one of our issues
with LTO2 in a 3584.

Beatriz,

Like Dwight already said, probably SAN switch zoning.

Also the latest Atape driver is (as far as I know) 9.0.7.0 (see
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/storage/devdrvr/AIX).

Hello All,

We just got our new 3583 with 6 tape drives and I believe Multi-Path (we
don't want to use Multi-path for now). I have done the following and I
still
cannot get to see anything on AIX:
1. Installed latest atape drives (running AIX 5.2 ML3):
atape 8.4.9.0
2. Connected 6 tape drives (fiber) to McData switch
3. Connected Fiber adapter from AIX server to McData switch.
4. Reboot AIX server and ran cfgmgr several times.
5. Hard reset the 6 tape drives via the web specialist.

I cannot see /dev/smc0 or any of the drives. What should I do? am I
missing
a setting in the library itself? or on the Fiber adapter in AIX?

Thanks in advance,
Beatriz
