Knew that, but the question is Why would ITSM keep trying to write to the
tape.....

Hi,
look in the message guide.

Your volume is "physical" write protected.
Have a look to the cardridge. There ist a "write protected switch".

Hi,

One of the tapes needed for back-up stg Tape to Copy appeared to be set to
write protect. I expected ITSM to set the tape to READO and never ask for it
again as long as it wasn't fixed. To my surprise ITSM didn't set the tape to
READO and tried to write to it again, again failing the process and not setting
the tape to READO.

The tape was defined to the copy stg pool with access readw and status empty.

Setup: ITSM 5.2.2.2 Library client to a ITSM 5.2.2.2 Library manager, both
Windows servers.

Question: Is it working as designed?

Regards,

Karel
