Yes by default all files are subfile backed up. Use include.subfile and
exclude.subfile.

After Tivoli Storage Manager evaluates exclude.dir and any other
include-exclude options controlling backup, archive, image, and system objects
processing, it uses the following options to determine which files undergo
compression, encryption, and adaptive subfile backup processing:
exclude.compression
include.compression
exclude.encrypt
include.encrypt
exclude.subfile
include.subfile.
So to include only *.pst
Exclude.subfile *
Include.subfile *:\...\*.pst

statement in my dsm.opt it went head and backed it up using subfile backup
by default and sent 9MB's to the tsmserver the 2nd time around.
When would I use the include.subfile option? When I have subfilebackup=no?
Reason why I'm asking this is because if I can limit the amount of storage
space on TSM for all .pst files that would great! Instead of doing a full
backup of the .pst file every time it changes.

I don't have ay subfile includes, but if you start dsmc, you can use the
command "q incl" to see the full include - exclude list (client option set +
dsm.opt + operation system excludes). And this list is processed from top
to
bottom.
