Kent, yes, in general you can do things with TYPE=COMMAND events to start
concurrent operations that run in the background. Note, however, that
tracking their success or failure through the TSM scheduler becomes
problematic since the background processes are effectively detached. The
specific issues involved would depend on the specifics of the problem you
are trying to solve.

Andy, can use of 'type=command' schedules (to deliver a 'dsmc' command, or
client script name that contains one) be used to get around the
concurrency limitation?

Laura,

You can define more than one schedule on the TSM server, and you can
associate a given node with more than one schedule. The events won't run
concurrently, so be sure to space them apart.

If that doesn't answer your question, then can you provide a detailed
description of what you are trying to accomplish?

Andy

INFORMATION ON RUNNING MULTIPLE BACKUPS ON ONE WINDOWS NODE

I am looking for information on running multiple backups on the same
node. This is a windows 2003 machine. Has anyone seen documentation to
support this or can it even be done?

Thanks,

Laura Booth
