Couldn't this be done by setting the action of the client schedule to
'command' ?

                How do you "su - oracle -c script.sh" if you use the
client sched or do you?  TSM support stated I couldnt do this.

                We have never used crontab to perform the backups for
Oracle, MS-SQL or
                Domino/Notes.

                We always use the scheduler to run the COMMAND on the
client.
