Agreed.

I don't think you can predict which ones you can do at once; I think it has
to do with which data base pages are involved.
You don't even need a shell script to do it; you can select your volumes
like this:

select 'delete volume ', volume_name, 'discarddata=y'  'wait=yes' from
volumes where (blah)

and TSM will generate the delete statements for you!

Then you can just run it as a macro.

I never delete more than one at a time.  If I have multiple volumes to
delete, I write a shell script to delete them one at time, using delete
volume xxxx discarddata=y wait=yes.  I've found this is the fastest way to
delete multiple volumes even if the volumes are from different storage
pools.
