That kind means AD restore. TSM is innocent, the issue is on the M$ side.
To protect the AD, Windows is not allowing access to it unless you have
*booted* the system in AD recovery mode.
Treat normal boot as read-only!!! TSM client is promptly trying to
restore, Windoze is returning fake "operation complete" status and is
*ignoring* all the stuff TSM just passed to it.
Probably we have to be very thankful 'cause we can restore everything
(files and AD) in the AD recovery mode. Imagine we had to restore files in
normal, registry in some (fictitious) "registry recovery" and AD in AD
recovery modes... knock-on-wood.

Define "that kind of restore" please?

Why does having to re-restore the system object after reboot have to do
with it? Why is that different? Because the restore of the system object
done as part of the BMR was done from the same named server, but that
server was not configured for AD?

I've done successful BMR of Win2k, but this the first of an AD server to
very dislike hardware.

Hi Bill!
The error you got is normal when you run that kind of restore of your AD
Server.
What you need to do is.
Start your Windows 2000/2003 Server in AD repair mode (F8)
Logon as local admin.
Start the TSM Client and restore the system object again.
When the restore if finish.
Reboot your server and the machine is up and runing.

But you can do your BMR solution much faster with a 3rd part BMR tool.
