Gerhard,

yes : "ANR7837S Internal error LOGSEG871 detected" indicates full log space.

Here is our receipt:

- prepare a new logvolume (100 MB are enough) : dsmfmt -m -log
'new_log-vol-name' 100
- start the Server with :
                cd $DSMSERV_DIR
                dsmserv extend log 'new_log-vol-name' 100

TSM Server starts and performs log-extension,
Recovery log analysis, Recovery log redo and Recovery log undo
(duration: 1/2 to an hour - at our site (similar size);-).
Then the server halts itself.

Before you start the server in normal environment,
start with 'DISABLESCHEDS YES' in the server.opt file
(disables admin and client schedules)
and perform a database backup.

Now the server can be started in normal environment ('DISABLESCHEDS NO').

With 5 GB log space i asume you run in 'ROLLFORWARD' mode,
so adjust your DATABASEBACKUP TRIGGER.
We use 8 GB log space and are now at 50% LOGFULL Percentage
to fire an incremental DB backup.

Hope it helps

TSM is core dumping on my test server. It looks to me like it ran out of log
space but just wanted to confirm that as it's been a while since I've had
this happen. How do I proceed to restart my TSM server at this point?
