According to TSM Administrator's Guide the maximum size of TSM server DB
is 530 GB. The topic was discussed several times in the past and the
common conclusion is that currently this is a theoretical limit while the
practical limit is the time necessary to backup the database. With recent
improvements in tape technology a 530 GB database can be backed up in 4-5
hours.
So IBM may need to address the scalability in next versions. There is no
need to mention that much smaller application databases can be backed up
using several threads, while TSM DB backup is single-threaded.
