target of the  backups of the primary storage pool to the new copy
pool,

yes.

- expire all those files from the original copypool ?

no. Files remain in the original copypool until they are expired and
the primairy pool is backed-up to the copypool again. Yes, setting up
new copypools and not losing data is a challenge....
