Joni,

In the example you state it is possible to do a restore across these OS'es,
but only because the filesystem types are simmilar.
You have to check to see if the source and target filesystems are, in case
of SUN, UFS.
I have done this in the past, because some SUN servers are in the DMZ and i
don't have access to them, but i needed to get some of the logfiles on them.
I booted the Redhad workstation and restored them.

Again, make sure the filesystems are mutually supported.

Onderwerp: Restore files across platforms?

Hi Everyone!

I was just wondering if it would be possible to restore files that were
backed up from the following server which is a SUN Solaris server:

Node Name: INTERWEB1
Platform: SUN SOLARIS
Client OS Level: 5.8
Client Version: Version 5, Release 1, Level 1.0

to a Linux Redhat server? I know that you have to do the set access
command. Is the proper syntax: set access backup * * ?

And also, if the server that it would be restoring to would be called
webusage.xxxxxxxx.com, would the restore command be: dsmc query backup
-fromnode=interweb1 "/var/run" ?

Thanks in advance!
