It looks to me like your client is having difficulty connecting with the
TSM server.

1) Check dsmerror.log for the timeframe (21:02:44) that the ANS1029E
message occurred. Are there any messages that provide additional
information about the problem?

2) Check your TSM server activity log from the time that you started the
scheduler. Are there any messages at all that indicate the client
attempted to contact the server?

3) From the client machine, can you even run the following successfully?

   dsmc query session

If this is successful, you should see a message that starts "Session
established with server ..." along with other information about the server
and the client. If this does not work, then you need to take a look at
your configuration. Check your dsm.opt and dsm.sys file to make sure that
they are configured correctly (proper TCPSERVERADDRESS and TCPPORT
settings, etc.).

Make sure that you can ping the server machine from the client machine.

This should give you a start...

Andy

I changed the managedservice to webclient only and start the client
scheduler manually: nohup dsmc schedule 2> /dev/null &

$ ps -ef|grep dsm
    root 28142 28012 0 21:05:14 pts/4 0:00 dsmc
    root 27949 1 0 21:01:18 ? 0:00 ./dsmcad
     tsm 27992 26624 0 21:02:16 pts/4 0:00 dsmc schedule

now I obtain the following message in the log:

06/17/03 21:02:44 Querying server for next scheduled event.
06/17/03 21:02:44 Node Name: EQ201PATROL02
06/17/03 21:02:44 ANS1029E Communications have been dropped.
06/17/03 21:02:44 Scheduler has been stopped.

and the backup scheduled have status Pending in the consola despite
execution time is experired

That's fine as long as 1) the dsmcad process keeps running and 2) you
have a TSM client schedule installed on the client - even though it
doesn't have to stay running.

I set managedservices schedule webclient and when I start the scheduler
in the client machine obtained:

ANS0299E Scheduler cannot be started manually because the value of
MANAGEDSERVICES option is SCHEDULE.

I restart the dsmcad ....

Did you start the scheduler on the client machine?

You must use both the client scheduler (scheduler listens for
connections) and the TSM Server central scheduler which is actually
initiating the scheduler.

Hi,
I need to scheduler a backup. Do you suggest us to use the client
scheduler or the central scheduler?
