G'day Alex,

Unfortunately, the only SUPPORTed linux kernels are the ones as listed in
the readme. Which means if you encounter any problems running a different
kernel - you'll be asked to go back to the supported kernels to see if
your problem still exists.

As to the questions of vulnerabilities with running just the supported
kernels - I guess there will be many views on that - but if your TSM
server is running in your network, without public access, then I dont
think you'd be any more vulnerable (infant I think you are less, but I
digress) to running a Windows machine that doesnt have a service pack (or
hot fix), that fixes know exploits.

Now, if you want to run TSM on Linux without tape hardware (using say,
virtual volumes or disk pools), then you really only need to be concerned
with the GLIBC version that you are running. (I run TSM on Linux that is
tapeless, on RH 7.3 custom kernel, without any problems.)
