But with the TSM Client can you send msg to the eventlog if you want to.
I take out all output from the TSM Server and send the information over
mail But I just send the information I need to see if the backups has going
well or not. And if not. I go to the client and look in the DSM Clients log
files.
But what kind of information do you want to get out from the client?

got it right now, but it's just a mailer, isn't it?
sending/forwarding log files isn't solution for me, it's just too simple
and
not effective. it's much better to send events imho.

I can speak for the Windows and not for the Unix side. ;-)
Search for a program with name "postie" who is a freeware software.
With that program can you send your logs via a SMTP Server.

Can't speak for windows clients, but for unix ones, we simply run a
postschedulecmd=script.
Where script is a little shell script which sends two messages, one is the
dsmsched.log entries for that day, the other are the corresponding entries
from dsmerror.log.
I can send it if you need it.
