Jon,
My guess is that it was probably more than 255 chars...
and Alan, I didn't think of CHKDSK... (been out on AIX boxes tooooo long)
Wasn't that big of a deal because I was doing an upgrade to WindowsXP but
it prompted me to put the web browser's temp files on a different disk
partition (logical drive)
I probably should have looked into it more :-(

Is the entire path more than 255 characters?

Importance: High
If that file is anything like some I ran into the other day...LOOK OUT !
In Explorer's temporary file area, some Kentucky Derby site my wife went
out to put some hugh/horrible filenames down on my disk that I had to
format the drive to get rid of them (yes, them... it plopped about 5
copies down in various temp directories...)
Now I'm not much of a window's wizard anymore but I tried everything and
couldn't scratch these files...
Couldn't open them, couldn't delete them, couldn't delete the folder in
which they resided in because that action would try to delete the file and
WINDOWS would reply "file not found"
I would classify it as dang close to a virus... one that would result in
your disk filling up without the ability to easily purge the data.
Might be something like that...
I would go look at some of these boxes specifically and see if those files
still exist and if you can manually purge them.
My only solution was to scratch the system, partition the drive, rebuild
the system, then set up a different drive to be used for internet explorer
temp files (so I could format the drive in the future without having to
scratch the entire system, in the event I run into this again)

Hello List,
Our TSM logs show many ANE4005E (file not found) messages for files
generated by windows user bookmarking theri favorite site with internet
explorer.
For example:
05/07/03 21:40:25 ANE4005E (Session: 64191, Node: NUGVFS04)
Error processing 'DATA:/USR/KleipooC/DATA/internet/Favorites/Holi
day/Creece/Welcome to the Campings of Greece Athens Attica Aegean
Islands ÿÿÿÿ Central Greece Crete Cyclades Dodecanissos Evia ÿÿ I.u
rl': file not found
There seem to be some strange characters in the filename. But internet
explorer does not seem to have any difficulties with retrieveing the file.
So why does TSM???
Any hints to resolve this?
-Marcel
