Does image backup work for NT4? I am not sure.
Apparently down time is a major issue, else you could simply use
plain dsmc restore (which would be marvelous test of your backup system)
or dsmc archive plus dsmc retrieve to speed things somewhat.
Another suggestion: borrow an scsi tape device and use ntbackup.
Another Suggestion: xcopy /e /v /h /k /o /x

Betreff: Image Backup question, or other solutions welcome.
Enviro:
W2K TSM v5.1.6.3 server
Windows v5.1.5.15 client
The Challenge:
Move ~160 GB of data files (NO OS files), from a NT4 server, to a new W2K
server.
My suggested answer:
Use image backups of old NT4 server data files and place them onto the new
W2K server.
Is this a viable solution for the Challenge?
If not, what would be a better solution?
I have read the v5.1 Windows Admin guide on Logical Volume backups and
Image Backups.
Comments??
