I believe this is true but would just like to confirm. I recall when
restoring a server to another server, that this can't be done if the
original server (SERVERA) is WindowsNT and the target server is UNIX
(SERVERB). Likewise you can't restore UNIX file systems to a WindowsNT
machine (even a text file).

My question is when restoring UNIX file systems if the original server is
some other flavor (say AIX) and you have no AIX servers in house, is it ok
to restore to a Solaris or Linux server? If I remember correctly a UNIX
server can be restored to any other flavor of UNIX..

The types of files being restored in this case are Lotus notes nsf files..
The original server was AIX and I'd like to restore to a Linux server
specifically.
