Configurations are supported if they are listed as such in the manuals.
The B/A Clients manual, topic "Client environment requirements" says you
need at least AIX 4.3.3 for a *supported* combination.  You can take a
chance and try the 5.1 client under 4.2.1 - best done with a client def
not presently in the server, new filespace, etc. to be as safe as possible.
At least trying a client is a lot easier than trying a server.
