To all that responded my question : many, many thanks !!
TSM server is up and running again, and I'm (almost) dancing on my desk ...
For a first experience, it was a good one !
I love TSM ;-)
Wish you all a nice W.E.
Cheers.
Arnaud

Arnaud,
Don't worry. Just messages from clients trying to connect to the TSM server.

Eric, Ruddy
Many thanks for you help ! I managed it to restore the db successfully,
although I got some strange messages during restore, looking like :

Do you know if it could mean that something went wrong, or can I go further
without worrying ? TIA.

Hi Arnaud!
Error 2 is an AIX return code meaning "No such file or directory". This is
probably because /tsmdb/log1 does not exist. Did you use the DSMFMT command to
create this file? I also noted a difference in filename between the command you
issued and the error returned. I assume this is a typo? Kindest regards, Eric

Hi List,
I had a call from one of our branches, telling me their TSM server crashed.
Unfortunately they had their log and db files sitted on the same unmirrored
disk, so basically everything is lost. I'm now trying to initiate a DR
scenario, but face a first problem : issuing "dsmserv format 1 /tsmdb/log1 1
/tsmdb/" returns
Tivoli Storage Manager for AIX-RS/6000

ANR0900I Processing options file dsmserv.opt.
ANR000W Unable to open default locale message catalog, /usr/lib/nls/msg/C/.
Error opening file /tsmpool/log1, errno = 2
What does that mean ?
Additional question : as I never worked with that system, and they had poor
documentation, I have no idea of the original size for db and log volumes. The
only thing I found was their dsmserv.dsk file, wich looks like :
#dsk_comment#page_shadow_token:1030111093811
/tsmdb/tsmdb1.dsm
/tsmdb/tsmlog.dsm
/tsmdb/tsmdb.dsm
/tsmpool/dbvol3.dsm
Will the above format command (If successful) be enough to initiate a later
"restore db" command without problem ? Many thanks for your help in my first
disaster recovery attempt ...
Arnaud
