Is the ATL M1500 library with DLT 8000 drives compatible with TSM? We
would like to use such a library as a spare / utility library on our
system.

The spec sheet on the device compatibility web page shows it being
compatible with DLT 4000 - DLT 7000 drives, but we need DLT 8000 for media
compatibility.

Details:

TSM 4.1.5.0 on AIX 4.3.3. ML 8

We use an HP 4/40 DLT 8000 library as our copypool.
We would like an installed spare with DLT 8000 drives in the event that
the HP suffers a total failure during hurricane preparations. In that
case, it would take just a few minutes to redefine the properties of the
copypool and TSM would resume where it left off.
We tried going to HP for a 2/20, but caught them just as they were
dropping the entire product line as part of their merger-related product
update.

If the ATL is not compatible with DLT 8000 drives, is there another
library that someone could recommend? It should have two DLT 8000 drives
and hold at least 12 tapes. It should use HV Diff SCSI connections. And
relatively low cost is a plus since it would see little use.

Thanks in advance.
