There is nothing that has been updated or changed.
The library is set to automatic.

actually you've tried the option 2a. From your post it seems that the
actual problem is somewhere in option 1 (as I guessed) - there is
something malfunctioning and library/changer device does not respond.
Verify:
- is the library in manual/off-line mode (receiving commands from panel
and not through SCSI)?
- was "Atape.driver" recendly updated?
- was OS patched/updated recently?
- is there a cable problem?
- something else

Hi good people,

We have tried the first option, deleted the library and the drives
successfully. We left
the device class. The problem now occurs when defining the drives, it says
library is
currently unavailable. I have even tried to define new devclass and
library,
but when it is time for
the drives the same error comes up.

Any other suggestions?

Two options:
- check is this the real reason for non-operational library. I didn't
played with 3570 but others work fine with both shared "yes" and "no".
- redefine the library:
-- delete drives & library; define back library using same name and
drives. You can delete library without deleting the device class.
-- define new library name using same devices;"upd dev <devclass>
libr=<new definition>"; delete old drives and library.

Hi TSMers,

Please could you help me......one of the other administrators has gone and
updated my automated 3570 library to shared = yes and now it will not do
backups or reclamation on the 3570 library.

What can I do to rectify this problem.....

Thanks.
