We haven't used the TDP here, but our DBA's have played with RMAN, and
below is what they have to say.

RMAN is quite clunky compared to using SQL Backtrack. BMC's support is
pricey to say the least, and RMAN comes w/ Oracle (Enterprise I know
for sure, and probably Standard). BMC has proved to be very good when
we've used it, but the version of Oracle (going from 32-bit to 64-bit)
has proved to be something that you cannot restore from...

I don't know what TDP is, so I can't say how it would be...

Hope it helps...

All,

We are evaluating different products to backup oracle database online,
testing SQL-backtrack for oracle from BMC and some other products.
We don't have any information on TDP as such how does it work and how
complex it is to configure with RAMN. If anyone out there using TDP..
Can
you please share your experience about this product and issues
involved
in it?
About sqlbacktrac: One of the consultant told us that whenever you
change oracle version or apply patch to oracle SQL-backtrack breaks and
won't work until BMC releases new patch for it .

Thanks
SD
